# New contact list screen

Owners, Managers and Operators can create a named contact list from a file or an X scan. Viewers cannot create lists.

## What it's for {#what-its-for}

Choose where contacts come from before importing or starting a scan.

## What you see {#what-you-see}

- **List name** and **Description (optional)** identify the list.
- Sources include **Import file**, **Scan followers**, **Keywords** and **People who engaged with a post**.

## What you can do {#what-you-can-do}

- Enter a list name. For a file, choose CSV or XLSX, review column mapping and check the preview.
- For a scan, select an X account to read with and supply the source profiles, keyword or post.
- Review import results and download row-by-row results when available.

## States and messages {#states-and-messages}

- A missing name or invalid scan input is shown before submission.
- Imports distinguish added, existing, excluded, skipped and conflicting rows.
- A queued scan opens the list; contacts arrive as the scan runs.
